Cityview, Central Iowa's independent weekly, has informed BLABBERMOUTH.NET of the apparent cancelation of Rock Gone Wild, the Iowa-based four-day festival which was supposed to take place August 20-23 at the Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood.

Cityview, which had conducted a number of interviews with artists that were scheduled to take part in the event and had a cover story ready to go to press, has forwarded a statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET from Dana Young, a managing member of Rock Gone Wild, an Iowa-based limited liability company, in which Dana says, "I . . . was informed on August 5, 2009, by email from legal counsel representing Diamond Jo Casino, that: quote-unquote, 'the event cannot take place anywhere on the licensed premises.'"

The Rock Gone Wild organizers announced last month that the festival was being moved from Freedom Park in Algona to The Diamond Jo Casino in Northwood.

"The size of the festival necessitated the change," Donnie Frizzell, managing partner of Rock Gone Wild, said at the time. "Thus, the move to Diamond Jo's will allow us to best serve the fans of the festival who have already bought tickets, all of the great bands we've booked, our employees and those who are still making plans to attend."

Among the bands that were scheduled to appear at Rock Gone Wild were SAXON, JACKYL, WARRANT, TWISTED SISTER, SKID ROW, LITA FORD, DOKKEN, GREAT WHITE, KIX, L.A. GUNS (featuring Phil Lewis), CANDLEBOX and SEVENDUST.
